It’s something each of us has had experience with. When you turn away from the stove to check your phone or wash a plate, you suddenly hear the familiar sizzling sound of spaghetti cooking. This method wastes a significant amount of water in addition to contaminating the torch.
Luckily, this is something that can be easily bypassed. All you are asked to do is place a wooden spoon on the pot of simmering water. Dry wood is hydrophobic, meaning it cannot absorb water and must be kept that way. When the bubbles come into contact with the spoon, the boiling water stops and the headache you would experience is avoided.
