Strange marks near the tree grabbed Tim’s attention. They didn’t look like any animal tracks he recognized, and a chill ran down his spine. “Could there be predators?” he thought, scanning the ground for clues. There were no feathers or signs of a struggle, so he figured the birds hadn’t been attacked.
But the tree was too tall to see into the nest. He needed to investigate further. Rushing to the ranger station, Tim gathered equipment for a closer look. Usually, he patrolled the park on foot, but urgency compelled him to take the truck this time. Jumping in, he sped back to the mysterious tree.
