Emmylou Harris – April 2, 1947
Harris donned multiple hats of a songwriter, singer, musician, interpreter, and bandleader in her career that spanned several decades. Born in Birmingham in Alabama, Harris did a splendid job as a student of music. Her dedication that she dropped out of college to do justice to her musical aspirations. And she took it to such a level that the world stood in awe of her.
Mostly popular for country music and folk creations, Emmylou collaborated with some of the finest names in the industry, like Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, and Bob Dylan. From 1987 to 2014, she did exemplary work as she aged gracefully when most people of her age would think of retirement! But the fact she didn’t stop, helped her fetch 14 Grammys, the Polar Music Awards, and also getting inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2018, she also got the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
