Madeleine Albright is no more. She breathed her last on March 23, 2022, at the age of 84. The deceased political scientist and diplomat occupied the position of the 64th U.S. secretary of state between 1997 and 2001. The Democrat was the first woman to serve in that post.
She was eleven years of age when her family decided to relocate to the United States after the communists took over Czechoslovakia in 1948. The family settled down in Denver, Colorado and Madeleine became a citizen of the United States in 1957.
She was honored with a Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama in 2012. Madeleine walked down the aisle with Joseph Albright the retired journalist and author in 1959, but the two decided to hire a divorce attorney in 1982. She must have left a major share of her earnings, calculated to be close to $67 million for her three children.
