Tonya Harding – November 12, 1970
Tonya Harding grew up in a family that didn’t show any interest in matters of fitness. However, Harding was somewhat the black sheep in the family as she was always passionate about things athletic. She went on to become a figure skater, and she didn’t let anything come in her way of achieving her dreams in the sport. Harding worked her way up to participating in the Winter Olympic Figure Skating Competition and Exhibition held in 1994.
There was much controversy around her participation in the Olympics, but she is deserving of the credit for being an icon in the figure skating rink. As a result of the controversy she found herself in, Harding made the difficult decision to leave the limelight. She hasn’t made a comeback since, but her bank account balance was more than enough to see her through her early retirement comfortably.
