Here Are The Five Best Dressed Celebrities From The Grammy Red Carpet
The 61st Grammy Awards was held on February 10, 2019, with singer Alicia Keys as the event’s hostess. A number of memorable performances, several surprises, and some certain winners made the event memorable. Childish Gambino’s This is America won the Record Of The Year, while Kacey Musgrave’s Golden Hour won the Album Of The Year. The Song of the Year went to “This Is America”, while The Star Is Born duo Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga got the Best Pop Duo for their mesmerizing performance in the movie for the song “Shallow”. While the music world celebrated the winners, the fashion police spotted the most fashionable ones on the red carpet and also didn’t fail to notice the faux pas. Here are the best dressed from the 2019 Grammy Awards:
Cardi B
Cardi B received a whole lot of nominations. Though she didn’t win one this time, she did make a statement with her out-of-the-world gown this time. She wore a clamshell-like dress from Archival Mugler’s 1995 couture show. Her dress was probably the talk of the town, and even the most uninitiated about the Grammy Awards probably knows about this dress by this time. Though there were mixed reviews about the dress, we say, you need guts to pull off a dress like that and clearly, Cardi B didn’t lack any! Cardi B has recently been trending for her 2017 collaboration with Maroon 5 for the song “Girls Like You”. She earned a Grammy for her 2018 album Invasion Of Privacy in the Best Rap Album category.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is best known for her outrageous outfits that she wore to red carpets and created an uproar. However, this time, her look was much more toned down and classy, and we can’t help but love her for that. She wore a silver disco ball gown, matching silver heels, and a gorgeous neckpiece that brought her whole outfit together. To make her look a bit less plain, her gown also featured a dramatic ruffle that looked very 80ish. Her dress was from Celine and her necklace is said to be from Tiffany & Co.
Michelle Obama
The best surprise of the night came in the form of former first lady Michelle Obama. She co-hosted alongside Alicia Keys for some time. Her popularity has not diminished a bit and that was proved again when her speech was interrupted by a 25-second standing ovation from the entire crowd. She wore a sparkly jumpsuit designed by the designer duo Sachin And Babi. Her earrings matched her outfit and looked perfect for the glamorous evening. Her speech was highly impressive and this bit is definitely a memorable one: “From the Motown records I wore out on the South Side to the ‘Who Run the World’ songs that fueled me through this last decade, music has always helped me tell my story, and I know that’s true for everybody here.”
Katy Perry
The bubblegum pink Balmain dress that turned heads on the red carpet made Katy Perry the target for memes on various social media sites, and the star embraced it without getting offended. However, the dress is truly surreal and the texture of her soft doll-like gown makes us want to touch it. However, on a first glance, it reminds us of a cake and some fans did mention it. Katy Perry went on to share some of the quips her fans have made on her social feed, too!
Leon Bridges
Step aside, ladies! Here is a gentleman who has made it to the best-dressed list this year — Leon Bridges. The soul artist had made it clear that slim fit pants and crisp white shirts were his things. But when he ditched it this year for a completely new style, his fans were stunned. It was an ode to Texas at its best. Designed by Emily Bode, the mustard-colored corduroy set was personalized as it had references to his home state of Texas as well as music. Not many can pull off this color, but Leon Bridges certainly rocked this entire ensemble.
Despite a sober and less happening Grammys this year, these ladies and gentleman surely made the evening interesting. However, we can’t say it was entirely their choice of clothes that was responsible for it. It was also their personalities that brought about some color to this annual awards night. Others who barely missed our list are Janelle Monae whose outfit with its plunging neckline made us gape in awe and Kylie Jenner who arrived in a constricted Balmain dress. Until next year, we have found our fashion inspirations this year!
